Today’s “naked truth” from Turkey’s president left more questions than answers.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a stark account of what he described as the “ferocious” murder of Jamal Khashoggi, the influential Saudi journalist, three weeks ago.
He described evidence that the attack at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul was premeditated, in direct contrast to Saudi claims of a terrible mistake.
The Turkish leader also signalled that intelligence pointed to officials more senior than a total of 18 Saudi individuals, including a 15-strong hit team accused of killing Mr Khashoggi, being behind the plot and insisted that Turkey and its allies would not settle for scapegoats.
