Seismologist: 5% chance stronger earthquake to hit California
I disagree with this seismologist I say she’s wrong! There will not be a larger earthquake at this same location, however there will likely be a larger earthquake at a different location and on another fault-line in the next few days – again I repeat – there may be a larger earthquake but not in the same location as this 6.4.
An earthquake with an early measure of magnitude 6.4 hit Southern California, about 150 miles north Los Angeles, according to the US Geological Survey.
I have stated elsewhere on this site that my 2 primary concerns in terms of anticipated earthquake expectations are: JUAN DE FUCA and NEW MADRID. I would be making contingency plans BIG TIME RIGHT NOW! But of course they have no interest in “saving lives or property”! The NEW MADRID WOULD BRING THE COUNTRIES GRID DOWN IMMEDIATELY – AND FOOD, WATER, TRANSPORTATION AND RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS WILL BE DOWN FOR YEARS!!!
Impact to Business Community
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the QuakeSmart program, small businesses account for more than 99 percent of all companies in the United States, they employ 50 percent of all private sector workers, and provide nearly 45 percent of the nation’s payroll. It is estimated that 40 percent of all small businesses will not reopen after a major disaster and of the ones that do open 25 percent of those will close within one year. Developing a disaster contingency plan is essential as nearly three quarters of all companies without one will fail within three after a disaster. Small to medium sized businesses are often hit the hardest with an estimated daily income loss of $3,000 and $23,000, respectively.
What I DO KNOW is there are at least a dozen nuclear plants – not reactors – plants in the area of the New Madrid where there will be “station blackouts”, forced disconnects from the grid, no available diesel fuel for the emergency generators and NO WATER FOR COOLING available. That’s my biggest concern personally! All except for a few reactors are the flawed Mark I/II design.
What you say makes especially good sense because of the other quakes which suggest something big is coming.
