Logan Municipal Council moves forward with Idaho nuclear project despite mayor’s opposition By Steve Kent staff writer

NuScale is at it again.. now they’re auctioning off sectors of a large 750Mwatt plant to individual communities as a ‘buy-in’ Ponzi scheme for a small percentage of the whole. I thought Idaho was completely anti-nuclear except for the National Labs that were part of the original Manhattan Project. The refused to accept others’ waste products and refused to allow Commercial Nuclear Plants to be built within the State. But now NuScale came up with this ‘scheme’ to allow them to ‘buy-in’ at the 5%-of-total on the entire contract. The Mayor is not convinced but the City of Logan, Idaho doesn’t have the ‘strong mayor’ paradigm – they have split control. City Council decides and allots the financing but the Mayor can veto or modify. What a shame for Idaho!! They caved in to the Nuclear Crime Syndicate.. WTF? ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ฃ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜’

The Logan Municipal Council unanimously voted to continue its participation in a first-of-its-kind nuclear reactor project near Idaho Falls โ€” but not without objection from the mayor.ย The council approved a sales contract for the Carbon Free Power Project, a partnership between the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems and NuScale Energy, based in Oregon.ย Right before the vote, Mayor Holly Daines told the council that although sheโ€™d sign the contract should it be approved, she does not believe Logan should be involved in the project.

โ€œThe council controls the finances, they appropriate money. But the mayor executes contracts,โ€ Daines said. โ€œI would prefer not to be in this project, and the reason is the risk.โ€ย Daines said she thinks the risks of a first-of-its-kind nuclear reactor should be taken on by venture capitalists, not Loganโ€™s ratepayers.ย โ€œIt could turn out to be a fabulous project,โ€ Daines said. โ€œIf so, people will replicate it and then we can use that power.โ€

Daines said speaking with some of the council members one on one, she got the sense that theyโ€™d like to subscribe to 10 megawatts of the plantโ€™s capacity. As a compromise, Daines said, she would sign the contract but only at the 5 megawatt level.

  1. I’m really seeking a way to expose the Nuclear Crime Syndicate that will expose the Congress, the WH and the Senate (I count the Senate separate from Congress) and let the “pay attention to that man behind the curtain” Wizard of Oz become REALITY!!! But.. having a really hard time doing that.. ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ก

Just keep pluggin’ away I guess.. WHAT THE FUCK???

  2. What mystifies me is that the US doesn’t or wasn’t even allowing students to come study from Iran – they went to Canada instead, and the students who were in the US already pretended they were Greeks. And, just the idea of why it’s always foreigners (US citizenship or not – I don’t care) who are handling the nuclear waste. Before it was Energy Solutions the Utah dump was Envirocare. The guy got in trouble so he sold the dump – I forget the details. There is Holtec – guy from India, and there was that guy born in Egypt and a Jordanian family who left a huge radioactive mess at a lab. I spoke with an Iranian who didn’t want to go back after the Revolution but he could get nowhere with his case. He lived illegally and got amnestied.

  3. There is more going on now on the House Floor than this story now.. I’m gonna try to follow that right now. More on this later though.. UGLY SHIT and SCARY SHIT!

  4. This is the info I have on it: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2018/07/14/why-does-nuscale-smr-look-like-a-1964-drawing-of-swiss-lucens-nuclear-reactor-which-suffered-a-major-meltdown-in-1969-2/
I forgot the INL connection. I only vaguely recalled Oregon. I couldn’t tell really who owns it just looking at their web site. Framatome is involved and that is mostly the French gov. Here’s some info. As I recalled it’s research that was paid for by the taxpayer and when it was considered a fail the scientist took the info and made their own business. Most of the new nuclear has dangerously failed in the US and Europe and they pretend it’s new. A very extreme example is Pebble Bed: “NuScale was founded based on research funded by the US Department of Energy and conducted by Oregon State University, the Idaho National Laboratory, and other colleges[1][2][3] beginning in 2000. At the time, Oregon State’s nuclear department had been developing passive water-circulation techniques for cooling in nuclear plants.[4] The research grant ended in 2003, but a group of scientists at Oregon State University continued the work. They built a test lab at one-third the actual scale of the technology and inherited related patents from the university in 2007,[4][5] in exchange for a small equity in the company.[6]NuScale was founded that same year. Its first funding round was in January 2008 for an undisclosed sum.[3] It began seeking certification with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in February 2008.[4] By 2011, NuScale had raised $35 million in financing and had 100 employees in three cities: Tigard, Oregon; Richland, Washington; and Corvallis, Oregon.[7] NuScale was the first to submit plans for small reactors to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission[3] and is widely expected to be the first to get government approval.[8][9] It was also being evaluated by a consortium of utility companies called Energy Northwest.[10]
… In January 2018, the NRC agreed that the NuScale SMR does not need back-up power.[24] “https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NuScale_Power

This has links to their annual reports (for all subsidiaries)

    • WOW.. so NuScale has been operating since approx. 2000? At least conceptually? NOBODY knows this and the rest of the story. I have never seen it all put together quite like this.. this is well structured breaking news – I mean the whole paragraph you just posted. Great work.. I’m both amazed and really curious to dig deeper now! The Nuclear Crime Syndicate is a giant octopus that is making that “sucking sound” we all keep hearing.. LOL If you see my post rate slow in the coming days it’s because I’m reading your links.. I need a fuckin’ staff?? ๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ซ

      • Much older than 2000. That Swiss reactor is from the 1960s, I think, and it’s close to an identical twin. It is still sealed up and no one can visit the site. It’s an underground bunker but there’s an entrace surrounded by chain link and they don’t even cut the grass. You would have no idea of what it is. It’s still oozing tritium too, though the fuel was apparently sent north to storage. Unlike the US they keep the waste in a building and have room for fire trucks, by the way. I also got into a flap over it because a blogger claimed the Swiss had burned the fuel in an incinerator, which was false.

    • This statement is OUTRAGEOUS!! “โ€ฆ In January 2018, the NRC agreed that the NuScale SMR does not need back-up power.[24] โ€œhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NuScale_Power” WOW.. WTF!!

  5. Thanks for the heads-up! One more thing to look into. Nuscale was originally connected to nuclear lab workers, but I think Fluor may have bought it. Idaho National Lab is the only National Lab committed to promoting new nuclear (primary mission). They just don’t want the waste permanently in their state, even though they are the logical place to get it. In short, big time hypocrites. They have experimental spent fuel casks parked there, play around with spent fuel (including from France) and even have a dangerous 1950s experimental reactor going. They had the only lethal nuclear accident. INL is not the pretty part of Idaho. It is cool and arid. The entire population of the state is only around 1 million. Better that they watch the waste than push for new. Better a cool and arid climate than hot and arid, or worse, hot and humid like they want. It doesn’t need to be “buried” anywhere, though I favor a monitored underground bunker, if possible. It must be watched and repackaged for perpertuity. Who better to do it? The INL lab jobs are high paying, too. Plus they are Mormons in the area of INL – who tend to oppose women’s education and aren’t my favorite people. There are exceptions, of course, like the mostly non-practicing Udall family who seem to be wonderful. Idaho IS the nuclear crime syndicate, IMO. It’s also known to be a white nationalist-KKK stronghold. They have a low level nuclear dump in the pretty part of Idaho too. A blue-eyed blond who was half French from Idaho told me that they were considered non-white and their childhood playmate stopped coming over for this reason. This would have been the early 1970s. In at least one town in Alberta, which backs into Idaho, it was illegal for black people to live, as late as the late 1990s. There were black people, meaning that this was probably an unknown law, which could be enforced at any time. I’m not sure if that is still the case. This Logan seems to be right across the border from Idaho and in Utah, where they have the low level dump.
