How poor people survive in the USA | DW Documentary

MAKE AMERICA RICHER AGAIN – DumbAss Doofus. This documentary is more ‘the norm’ than the exception. Building owners and Real Estate speculators have made housing affordable only if you make $55K/yr MINIMUM. It will only get worse and worse.. paycheck-to-paycheck is the way of America anymore should you choose to accept that fate – I did not! How about you – are YOU getting richer and richer, do you have a ‘stock portfolio’ and are you an ‘investor in real estate’? NO – then you will fail to keep up! DumbAss Doofus will soon eliminate FOOD STAMPS from ALL! The program is named SNAP..

Homelessness, hunger and shame: poverty is rampant in the richest country in the world. Over 40 million people in the United States live below the poverty line, twice as many as it was fifty years ago. It can happen very quickly. Many people in the United States fall through the social safety net. In the structurally weak mining region of the Appalachians, it has become almost normal for people to go shopping with food stamps. And those who lose their home often have no choice but to live in a car.

There are so many homeless people in Los Angeles that relief organizations have started to build small wooden huts to provide them with a roof over their heads. The number of homeless children has also risen dramatically, reaching 1.5 million, three times more than during the Great Depression the 1930s. A documentary about the fate of the poor in the United States today. We closed the commentary section because of too many inapproriate comments.

  1. Thanks .. I thought it was a definite share too. At the rate I’m going I’ll cycle around to the other 2 you mention eventually but as you know poverty and homelessness are especially ‘close’ to me. And I had no idea about the Poles either, and Haiti and all that so great info thanks. They’re gonna Acquit DumbAss Doofus so EVERYONE in the US will very soon – much sooner than later – get their very own personal justice! As soon as this Impeachment BS is over I’m going back to Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Argentina for a long vacation.. Sheesh!!! LOL 😣😎

  2. This was a really well-done documentary. I had seen it a few weeks ago and had wanted to put it up to share, too. There is one about the UK and it is really bad there for the poor. That reminded me of the British class-caste structure and that may be why some of the US (and UK) whites prefer Asian Brahmins to poor whites.
Then there is a third documentary about coffin houses in Hong Kong that makes living in your mini-van look good. When Elizabeth Warren and others talk about cheaply built affordable housing, coffin houses is the ultimate conclusion. Rent caps and restrictions in immigration are the only way to have cheaper good housing.

The US imported that caste-class attitude as a colony and later rich Americans married poor members of the British nobility. Then they let the wealthy Asian Brahmins-dominant castes replace black people for Affirmative Action-minority contract set-asides. I think the Asian elites are playing the white racists and they aim to take over. So, the racist whites will get theirs. The way the Germans treated the Poles as untermenschen helps to clarify. You know that Poles helped Haiti as well as the US fight for their freedom. Some of the Poles stayed on in Haiti. I think that video has the lady who is a veteran with no kids of her own and will no longer be eligible for foodstamps because of Trump.

What got me thinking of the British upper caste-class in the USA is that I have discussed immigration and poverty with whites whose ancestors arrived in the 1600s – as some of mine did too. Mine were British indentured servants who were deported during the English Civil war and had to survive field work in Virginia. I think theirs were elites. One is definitely from elite families. And, they have no pity for poor whites or blacks but only for immigrants and maybe American Indians. Poor whites and blacks aren’t “sexy” enough for them. No allies there for the majority of American poor. Northern indentures faired better because they usually learned a trade and those British working in the fields of Virginia rarely survived more than a year. Those who did were tough. You needed a trade, however, to buy land and not be landless prior to homesteading in the mid 1800s.

When and where I grew up people were proud in their poverty and it would have been unseemly to flaunt wealth with fancy clothes, etc. People sent their kids to school with tiny wood splinters in their ears to save the good earrings for Sunday. That stands out in my mind most of all. And, kids were skinny. Now people are probably more poor because they don’t grow their own food and people flaunt wealth and not just drug dealers.

Too bad Huey Long didn’t get his way and was killed. His proposals would have worked well then due to low population and the nature of the elites (e.g. Standard oil-Rockefellers). He was going to cap wealth at 1 million in the 1920s and the balance, in conjunction with small population, would have allowed all to live decently. He wanted poor white and black sharecroppers/tenant farmers to learn math so they couldn’t be ripped off by the landlord.

    • Trump is apparently going after nursing home care for the elderly with the help of Pence’s Brahmin side-kick Seema Verma. It costs around $90,000 plus per year. Who has that? Median income for entire households (which is multiple wage earners) is now close to $60,000. If they stay home and care for the elderly then the income will drop to $40,000 or less. This is the topic I was working on re Medicaid. People who don’t pay in anything and get citizenship can get this care. The average foreign born is now older than the average US born due to family joining.
